Sally Barker - Biography

Welcome to SB Sports Massage!

I am Sally Barker, a qualified Sports Massage Practitioner and the founder of SB Sports Massage.

I worked with the England Women’s Rugby League Team as their Sports Masseur during the 2009/2010 season and toured France with the squad in July 2009. I have also supported the New Zealand Men’s Rugby League squad with massage during their 2009 Four Nations Tour of the UK and France.

Outside of Rugby League, I work regularly with both recreational and elite athletes of all ages and abilities who compete in a variety of sports and who require treatment for sports-specific injuries caused by overtraining, inappropriate preparation or inefficient recovery.

So what if you are not an active sportsperson?

Well, of course, Sports Massage can work for you too. I work with a wide range of individuals who suffer with back, neck and shoulder tension often caused by poor posture.

So, whether you are an active sportsperson or enjoy more of a passive involvement in sport, I will be able to offer you a massage treatment to suit your needs.

The history of SB Sports Massage

With a childhood passion for all sports, I decided to study sport and graduated in 1995 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Sports Science & Administration. SB Sports Massage was launched over 10 years later so what have I been doing with my time since graduating?

Well, in 1995 the only real jobs in sport were leisure centre management and teaching, none of which I wanted to do, so my job search become more generic. I landed a job at Reebok UK selling sports clothing and footwear and this was the start of my successful career in sales and marketing.

In an attempt to break away from the corporate lifestyle, I decided I wanted to go back to my roots and work in sport. I therefore qualified with a UCAPD in Sports Massage with a plan to launch my own business; and here I am!
